In 1971, the first model of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II watch was created. It is the natural heir to the original Rolex Explorer but features tools that make it a watch of choice of its own.

The Rolex Explorer II is equipped with a 24-hour display rather than the usual 12, pointing to a fixed bezel with 24-hour graduations.  This new function allows the frequent traveler/ explorer to know exactly what time of day it is when venturing off to the different environments.
